Monitored Direct Call System
Monitored
Direct Call System (MDC)

• ‘Point to point’ two way monitored voice link.
• Battery supported 24V DC power supply.
• Conventional telephone ‘ring’ tones.
• External visual and audible calling indication states – optional
The system provides a simple means of connecting two locations with an
independent telephone link, continuously monitored when not in use, and
utilising a battery supported power supply, to allow compliance with the
relevant sections of BS5839. In the simplest configuration, each handset
automatically calls the other when lifted. Lifting the second handset will
cancel the ringing current, and allow a normal FULL DUPLEX telephone
conversation to take place.
Replacing both handsets resets the system
Alternative configurations permit the inclusion of additional visual call status
indicators, to allow both audible and visual ‘calling’ signals to be generated,
with a further facility for ‘call registered’ indicators to be provided if required.
Up to a maximum of 3 telephone handsets can be used at slave positions and still
be monitored. Note that
this option only permits the 3 remote units to be addressed simultaneously, and
not individually.
All units may conference on the line if required.
In a quiescent state, the system is monitored for power supply failure and line
damage, in addition to handset removal. A volt free changeover contact is provided for remote fault
reporting.
Weatherproof options are available, with IP65 enclosures for the handsets.
If required, a Hands Free slave unit can be supplied. Note that only a single
slave unit can be fitted with this
configuration.
In the simplest configuration, a single pair is routed from the central unit to
the master handset location and
a single pair to the slave handset location. (Note: this pair can be daisy
chained to 2 other slave locations if
required).
Mains and batteries are contained in the central unit.
